The Tournament at a Glance

Fish from October 17th through November 8th. The main tournament is decided by the combined weight of each angler’s two heaviest eligible blackfish. There is no minimum weight requirement. Each blackfish must measure at least 16 inches and meet all applicable state and federal fishing regulations for the region. Fish may be caught anywhere in compliance with applicable state and federal fishing laws. All weigh-ins must take place at Total Tackle.

Registration Deadline

Register in person at Total Tackle by close of business day on Friday, October 16th, 2026. Completed applications and cash payment must be received by this deadline. Registrations can not be accepted or modified after the deadline.

Opening Day

The tournament begins Saturday, October 17th, 2026.

Nov 8th, 2026

Final Day & Weigh-Ins

Sunday is a half day. Final weigh-in concludes at 12:00 p.m. sharp at Total Tackle. Any fish weighed in after will not be counted. No outside weigh-ins allowed.

Main tournament

Your two biggest blackfish

$45 cash per angler

Enter your two heaviest eligible blackfish (tautog). The highest combined weight of those two fish wins. There is no tournament weight minimum. Each blackfish must comply with applicable state and federal fishing laws and regulations for the region.

1st and 2nd place CASH prizes: TBD

Optional add-on

Grand Slam Calcutta

+$25 cash per angler

Weigh one legal blackfish (tautog), one legal porgy (scup), and one legal black sea bass. The highest combined weight of all three fish wins the Grand Slam Calcutta.

You must enter the main tournament to enter the Calcutta. Each species must comply with applicable state and federal fishing laws and regulations for the region.

How weigh-ins work

  • All tournament weigh-ins take place at Total Tackle in Old Saybrook. No outside weigh-ins are accepted.
  • Sunday, November 8th is a half day. Final weigh-in concludes at 12:00 p.m. sharp. Fish must be presented for weigh-in before the cutoff.
  • Fish must be caught by the registered angler during the tournament dates. The store records and verifies eligible weights.

Fishing and safety rules

  • Participants must be at least 16 years old on October 17th, 2026, and hold an appropriate valid marine fishing license while fishing.
  • Anglers are responsible for legal catch, boating safety, and applicable state and federal rules.
  • All entered fish must meet the size, season, and possession rules in effect when caught and presented. No culling or high grading of retained fish.
  • Participants sign the tournament rules and safety acknowledgment when registering in store.
